US State Department: The Gaza Strip cannot return to Hamas administration
The US State Department said on Tuesday that the Gaza Strip cannot return to Hamas administration or become a launching pad for attacking Israel.
It added that Washington does not want to see a major operation in Rafah, adding that it has not seen that yet.
The US State Department indicated that Israel must investigate any violations of human rights or international humanitarian law, and demanded a full investigation into the incident of the attack on a United Nations vehicle in Gaza, yesterday, Monday.
It noted that 50 aid trucks entered Gaza on Sunday, but described this number as “not enough.”
The ministry added that it believes that more efforts can be made to help American citizens exit the besieged Gaza Strip.
Commenting on the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip since Israel took control of the Rafah crossing on May 7, US State Department spokesman Vedant Patel said: “We witnessed the entry of 50 trucks into Gaza on May 12, and this is not enough.”
