Manama agrees to the terms of the Arab summit, and Gaza is at the forefront of the discussions
On Monday, the capital of Bahrain, Manama, witnessed a consensus during the meeting of permanent delegates to the League of Arab States to prepare the files for the ministerial meeting that precedes the leaders’ summit on Thursday, with the Gaza Strip file topping the discussions.
The meeting was chaired by the Undersecretary of the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, in the presence of the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Hossam Zaki, according to what was reported by the official Bahrain News Agency.
The agency said that the meeting discussed the topics on the agenda, and it was decided to submit the necessary recommendations regarding them (without mentioning them) after agreeing on them, to the foreign ministers’ preparatory meeting of the Arab League Council at the summit level, which will be held on Tuesday.
Al Khalifa noted during the meeting that “the summit is being held in an exceptionally critical circumstance and a difficult time, given the magnitude of the challenges facing the Arab world.”
He reviewed the painful humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, stressing that "the Palestinian issue is the core of the conflict in the Middle East region, and the first central issue."
He expressed his "aspiration to stop the war on the Gaza Strip immediately, and to realize the aspirations of the brotherly Palestinian people, to obtain their legitimate rights and establish their independent state."
