The Palestinian Authority refuses to manage the Rafah crossing “under Israeli rule”
A Palestinian official revealed on Monday that the Palestinian Authority refused to manage the Rafah crossing “under Israeli rule.”
The source added to "Sky News Arabia" that the United States is pressuring Israel to open the Rafah crossing and hand it over to the Palestinian Authority, "which refused to do so."
He continued: "The Palestinian Authority stipulated that, in order to receive the Rafah crossing, it must adhere to the Arab peace plan drafted by the Arab Six-Party, which stipulates a cessation of the war, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and Israel's commitment to a timetable for negotiations until the establishment of a Palestinian state."
The source explained: “The Palestinian Authority informed Israel that it will not manage the Rafah crossing under Israel’s military rule, and will not take over the Gaza Strip in parts.”
A few days ago, Israel took control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, as part of a military operation in the city located in the southern Gaza Strip.
