Palestinian Prisoners: Thousands of Palestinian workers have been subjected to arrest and torture since October 7

Prisoners' institutions reported that thousands of workers have been subjected to arrest, prosecution, and torture by the Israeli occupation authorities since last October.

The prisoner institutions explained in a statement issued today, Wednesday, that these measures come within the framework of the policy of collective revenge, which the occupation has escalated its practice in an unprecedented manner since the beginning of the aggression against the Gaza Strip.

It continued that the largest number of arrests that affected workers after the 7th of October targeted workers from the Gaza Strip, who were present to work within the 1948 territories, and according to data from the Ministry of Labor, their number before the 7th of October was about 10,300 workers, and they were released. 3,200 of them last November, and about 6,441 workers were deported to the West Bank governorates, and approximately 1,000 workers remain missing.

It pointed out that the Israeli occupation has escalated its pursuit of workers and their arrest on the grounds of entering without a work permit during the past months, and this was accompanied by attacks in various ways, and detention under coercive and difficult conditions.

It confirmed that the abuse and torture carried out by the Israeli occupation against workers led to the martyrdom of three workers in the Israeli prisons and camps after the 7th of October, and they are among 16 martyrs of the detainees who rose after the 7th of October. They are: the martyr Majed Zaqoul, and the second martyr. The institutions were not able to confirm their identity. His identity is that they are both from Gaza, in addition to the martyr Abdel Rahim Amer from Qalqilya.

It called on all international human rights institutions at their various levels to open an independent international investigation in light of the continued escalation of crimes and genocidal war against our people in Gaza, and to work towards putting an end to the escalating and unprecedented crimes against detainees.
