A senior American official confirmed that Israel destroyed Khan Yunis searching for Hamas leaders but did not find them.

The New York Times said about the American official, saying, “We tell Israel that there is a more precise way to pursue the leaders of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) other than destroying Rafah part by part.”

He pointed out that Israel destroyed Gaza City and killed many Hamas resistance fighters, but many of them reappeared.

He added, "On April 18, a Hamas unit launched a missile from Beit Lahia in northern Gaza towards Ashkelon."

He pointed out that if Israel launches a major operation in Rafah, US President Joe Biden will consider restricting some arms sales to it.
