Egypt presents Israel with a new plan to end the war against Gaza

This came during his meeting with the head of the Shin Bet, Ronen Bar, and the chief of staff of the occupation army, Herzi Halevy, who visited Cairo on Wednesday.

The plan consists of 3 related items. Meanwhile, an Egyptian delegation will arrive in Tel Aviv on Thursday, to discuss the resumption of indirect negotiations with Hamas, and the release of detainees in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

According to the new proposal, Hamas demands the release of 50 prisoners for every detained soldier, and 30 prisoners for every detained civilian.

The delegation held a meeting with senior members of the National Security Council in the occupying entity, according to the Hebrew newspaper.

According to the first paragraph of the Egyptian plan, Tel Aviv will commit to stopping all preparations to invade Rafah.

The Egyptian Intelligence Director explained that not only Egypt, but also the United States and the European Union, are concerned about the fate of the civilian population in the event that the occupation army forces invade the southern Gaza Strip.

The second part of the plan is to release all Israeli detainees in two stages, with a time difference of 10 weeks.

Egypt did not mention the number of "Israeli" detainees (their number appears to be unknown to Egypt), but it made clear that the talk was about releasing all detainees in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

The third section is a ceasefire for a full year, whereby Tel Aviv and Hamas pledge not to fire or use weapons on land or in the air. During the ceasefire, steps to establish a Palestinian state will also be announced, sponsored by the United States, Jordan, Egypt, and the Palestinian Authority.

According to the Arab affairs analyst at Yedioth Ahronoth, Simdar Peri, the head of the Shin Bet and the chief of staff of the occupation army did not respond to the Egyptian plan, but they pledged to present it in a hearing with the participation of Benjamin Netanyahu and the Council of War Ministers in the occupying entity.

Hamas, as is known, has prepared a plan to declare a complete ceasefire on both sides for a year.

It also sent to Egypt a request to obtain American and international guarantees for Tel Aviv’s implementation of the Egyptian plan.
