Palestine requests an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council
The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, announced today, Monday, that the State of Palestine has submitted a request to hold an extraordinary session of the League Council at the level of permanent delegates as soon as possible.
Ambassador Al-Aklouk said that the request for this meeting comes in light of the continuation of the crime of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the escalation of aggression and settler attacks in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the use of the United States of America’s “veto” in the Security Council against the request for the State of Palestine to obtain Full membership in the United Nations.
He added that the State of Palestine submitted a request to hold the meeting to discuss the aforementioned developments, as well as to listen to an in-depth briefing from the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese.
