More than 500,000 Democratic voters protest Biden's support for the Gaza massacre

More than half a million people cast protest votes against US President Joe Biden's support for the Israeli massacre of Palestinians in Gaza in Democratic primaries across the country.

According to statistics from The Nation magazine, 530,502 people voted in protest, “non-committal” or “unguided” when it was available on the ballot. The movement began in Michigan, a large swing state with a strong Arab and Muslim electoral base, where more than 100,000 people voted “non-compliant.”

Choosing “non-committed” means the vote of a Democratic voter who is not committed to voting for President Biden in the November 5, 2024 presidential elections, according to the current standards and policy of President Biden’s behavior toward the Gaza war.

Last week, 48,091 votes were cast for “nonconformist” in the Wisconsin primary. The turnout rate far exceeded organizers' expectations, as their goal was to secure 20,682 votes, which is Biden's margin of victory in the state of Wisconsin in the 2020 elections.

Opposition to Biden was strongest in the Wisconsin region where students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison reside, a historic stronghold for Democrats. In that district, 30% of voters cast their ballots for “uncommitted,” which Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) called “a big slap in the face and anathema to (Biden).”

The campaign caused Democratic strategists to fear that Biden's support for Israel's genocidal war, which has claimed the lives of more than 33,000 Palestinians, could cost him the election next November. President Biden's campaign events have also been repeatedly halted as protesters dubbed him "genocidal Joe" for his support of Israel's war on the blockaded Gaza Strip.
