FAO warns of the rapid deterioration of the food security situation in Gaza
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) warned on Saturday that the rapid deterioration of the food security situation in the Gaza Strip has reached a severe stage amid the emergence of signs of famine in the north.
The UN organization added, in a post on its account on the “X” platform: “For the first time since the escalation of hostilities, our teams have succeeded in introducing much-needed animal feed into Gaza.”
The FAO stressed that "the collapse of agricultural food value chains led to a rapid deterioration of the food security situation to a severe stage amid the emergence of signs of famine in the north."
The UN organization said that "the introduction of animal feed into Gaza was aimed at providing means of nutrition."
As a result of the war and Israeli restrictions, the residents of Gaza, especially the Gaza and northern governorates, are on the verge of famine, in light of a severe scarcity of food, water, medicine and fuel supplies, with the displacement of about two million Palestinians from the Strip, which has been besieged by Israel for 17 years.
