“We will work to replace Netanyahu.” The statement of the detainees’ families ignites Tel Aviv
“We have no other choice. We will work to replace you with Netanyahu immediately,” a statement said by the families of the Israelis detained in Gaza - yesterday, Saturday - in a statement, according to what was reported by Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper. They described the behavior of (Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu as a crime and unimaginable, which is the obstacle to reaching an agreement with Hamas.
Yesterday, thousands of people went out in massive demonstrations in front of the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv to overthrow the Netanyahu government, and the demonstrations witnessed confrontations between the police and protesters who were demanding an immediate deal to release detainees in Gaza.
The statements of the families of the prisoners received great interaction on social media platforms at the global and Arab levels, and some activists described the statement of the families of the Israeli prisoners as unusual and with strong language against Netanyahu.
On the other hand, others saw that the current international system has reached a firm conviction that the Palestinian issue today needs a path to solve it, and the Palestinians must be granted their rights, or even part of them. One of them said, “One of the expected outcomes is that Israel will find itself facing one of two options: either confront the international will.” Or confront the internal will, represented by the right, and both are difficult. Will Israel choose to confront the world or itself?! “And in both cases, it will lose.”
It is noteworthy that indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas are taking place, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, with the aim of reaching a prisoner exchange deal and a second truce between the two parties, after the first, which lasted a week until the beginning of last December, and resulted in a prisoner exchange and the entry of limited aid into the Strip.
