The US Vice President warns of consequences for Israel if it attacks Rafah
US Vice President Kamala Harris said on Sunday that there could be consequences for Israel if it goes ahead with the invasion of Rafah, south of the besieged Gaza Strip.
In an interview with ABC News, Vice President Al-Amir warned the Israeli authorities against launching a military operation in the Palestinian city of Rafah, stressing that there may be “consequences” for Israel if it goes ahead with its plan.
“We have been clear in multiple conversations and in every way that any major military operation in Rafah would be a huge mistake,” Harris said. “I have studied the maps, there is nowhere for these people to go.”
She added, "The priority is what is happening in Gaza. We have been very clear that a very large number of innocent Palestinians have been killed. We have been very clear that Israel, the Israeli people, and the Palestinians are entitled to an equal amount of security and dignity."
In response to a question about whether the United States would think about “consequences” for Tel Aviv if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu went ahead with his threats regarding Rafah.
“Well, we'll take it step by step, but we've been very clear about our view on whether or not it should happen,” Harris said.
The broadcaster emphasized her question by saying: “Do you rule out that there will be consequences from the United States?” The US Vice President’s response was: “I do not rule out anything.”
