UNRWA: Nearly 23 million tons of debris due to the war in the Gaza Strip
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) estimated today (Sunday) the volume of debris in the Gaza Strip as a result of the ongoing war between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and the Israeli army at approximately 23 million tons.
UNRWA said in a statement, “The destruction that befell the Gaza Strip caused the formation of an estimated 23 million tons of debris.”
The statement added that work will take years to remove the rubble and dispose of unexploded ordnance.
It pointed out that homes, schools, clinics and civilian infrastructure have been affected by the war, pointing out that the lives of more than two million people living in the Gaza Strip have been destroyed.
