Today, Sunday, the Israeli forces notified of the complete or partial demolition of about 200 facilities, houses, and rooms in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.

Local sources said that Israeli forces notified of the complete demolition of some homes, and others of partial demolition, including rooms, stairs, and any additions to the homes that were added before 2015.

It added that Israeli forces gave the owners of the threatened facilities and homes varying periods of time to demolish their homes with their own hands, otherwise they will be demolished by Israeli municipality crews and heavy financial fines will be imposed in return.

It is noteworthy that the area of the Old City does not exceed one square kilometer only, and it is inhabited by approximately 35 thousand Palestinian citizens, and since the seventh of last October it has been subjected to a comprehensive siege.

According to the Jerusalem Governorate’s annual report on the crimes and violations of the Israeli occupation in the occupied capital during the year 2023, the number of demolition operations in the Jerusalem Governorate reached 316, of which 79 were forced self-demolitions, in addition to 40 bulldozing operations. The Israeli authorities also handed over 263  demolition decisions during the same year. 

According to the same report, during the year 2023, the  demolition authorities approved 29 colonial projects in the Jerusalem Governorate.
