On Thursday, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, developments in the situation in the region, especially in the Gaza Strip and its surroundings.

This came during a phone call that Bin Farhan received from his Iranian counterpart, according to the official Saudi Press Agency.

The agency stated that during the call, “the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop them in various fields were reviewed.”

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on Gaza that, as of Wednesday, has left 23,357 dead and 59,410 injured, most of them children and women, and “massive destruction of infrastructure and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe,” according to the Gaza Strip authorities and the United Nations.

In "solidarity with the Gaza Strip", Hezbollah and Palestinian factions in Lebanon have exchanged intermittent daily bombardment with the Israeli army since last October 8. 

The Houthis also targeted, more than once, with missiles and drones, cargo ships in the Red Sea owned or operated by Israeli companies or transporting goods to and from Israel.
