France: Israel does not have the right to determine the future of Gaza
French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said on Friday, “Israel has no right to determine the future of Gaza, which is considered Palestinian territory, and we must return to the principle of international law.”
This came in a statement to the American CNN channel, in which Colonna described the repeated statements made recently by Israeli politicians and officials about forcing Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to emigrate as “irresponsible.”
The French Minister affirmed her country's support for the two-state solution.
She said, "Gaza is Palestinian land that wants to be part of the future state of Palestine, and we support the two-state solution, which is considered the only possible option."
Colonna stressed the need for Israel to protect civilians by adhering to international law.
Israeli ministers, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, and Knesset member of the ruling Likud Party, Danny Danon, called in recent weeks to encourage “voluntary migration” of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, which sparked American, international, and Arab criticism.
Since last October 7, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, which, as of Friday, has left 22,600 killed and 57,910 injured, most of them children and women, massive destruction of infrastructure and an “unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe,” according to official Palestinian sources. And internationalism.
