UNRWA: The residents of Gaza are hungry and desperate for food
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Saturday that the residents of the Gaza Strip are “hungry and desperate for food.”
This came in a blog post published by the Director of UNRWA Affairs in Gaza, Thomas White, on the UN agency’s account via the “X” platform.
White attached a video clip showing the arrival of hundreds of Palestinians to the UNRWA aid convoy in Gaza City this week.
The UN official stressed that "the Gaza Strip is suffering from catastrophic hunger, and 40 percent of the population is at risk of famine."
He added, "Every day in Gaza is a struggle for survival, in search of food and water."
He pointed out that "the residents of the Gaza Strip are hungry and eager to obtain food."
“More regular supplies are needed, which requires safe and sustainable access for humanitarian supplies everywhere, including in northern Gaza,” White concluded.
