Netanyahu: We are working to achieve “voluntary migration” of Gaza residents
The Hebrew newspaper "Israel Today" said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is working to "achieve voluntary migration of residents of the Gaza Strip to other countries."
The newspaper added on its web page that these statements came in response to the representative from the Likud Party led by Netanyahu, Danny Danon, during a meeting held by the party bloc on Monday.
The newspaper quoted Netanyahu as saying: “Our problem is the countries that are prepared to absorb refugees, and we are working to solve it.”
In turn, Danon said in the same session: “The world is already discussing this matter. Canadian Immigration Minister (Mark Miller) spoke about these matters publicly, as did Nikki Haley (a potential Republican candidate for the US presidency).”
He added: "We must form a team in the State of Israel that will take care of this issue and make sure that anyone who wants to leave Gaza for a third country can do so."
Danon continued: “This must be organized, because it has strategic importance for the day after the war.”
According to the newspaper, Netanyahu responded to Danon, saying: “We are working on that.”
Last November, Danon proposed the issue of voluntary immigration for residents of the Gaza Strip.
Several times, the United States of America, in addition to European and Arab countries, announced their rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip abroad.
Since October 7, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on Gaza, which, as of Monday, has left 20,674 dead, 54,536 wounded, most of them children and women, massive infrastructure destruction, and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, according to the Gaza Strip authorities and the United Nations.
