Palestinian journalist Abdel Karim Odeh was killed as a result of an Israeli bombing on the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to what was reported by the government media office in the Strip.
In a brief statement on the Telegram platform, the office said that Odeh’s death brings the total number of journalist dead in the Gaza Strip to 87 since the seventh of last October.
On Monday, the office published the names of 86 journalists who were killed during the war, the last of whom was journalist Muhammad Abu Samra, who died on Sunday after being targeted by the occupation army.
Agence France-Presse and other international media sent a joint letter to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at the end of October, asking him to help protect journalists, a number of whom were killed and others injured since the beginning of the war.
In his response to the letter, Blinken said that he supports “unequivocal” protection for journalists in conflict areas, noting that the United States “will continue to emphasize to Israel and all countries the necessity of protecting journalists.”
In the same context, hundreds of French representatives sent a letter to Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne on Monday, demanding that she “exert every effort” to allow the “evacuation of journalists” from the Strip.
