Israel summons Spanish ambassador to reprimand him after statements about the Gaza war

Israel summoned the Spanish ambassador to reprimand him after Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on (Thursday) that he doubted whether Israel respected international humanitarian law in the Gaza Strip.

According to Reuters, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he had instructed the Foreign Minister to summon the Spanish ambassador to reprimand him “after the shameful statements made by the Spanish Prime Minister on the same day that Hamas terrorists killed Israelis in our capital, Jerusalem.”

Two Hamas gunmen killed 3 people at a bus station in Jerusalem during the morning rush hour on Thursday, according to Reuters.

Israel was not satisfied with this measure, but also summoned its ambassador to Madrid “for consultation.”

Foreign Minister Eli Cohen posted on his account on the “X” platform that “because of the disgraceful statements of the Spanish Prime Minister, who once again repeated baseless allegations, I decided to summon the Israeli ambassador to Spain again to Jerusalem for consultations.”
