The White House: We did not approve of the Israeli operation in Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza

The White House denied on Wednesday that the United States approved the Israeli army’s operations around Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip, pointing out that the plan and implementation were Israeli.

US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said, "We have always been very clear with our Israeli partners about the importance of minimizing civilian casualties, and the need to be particularly careful when we talk about hospitals."

The White House said that it knows that the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) uses hospitals such as Al-Shifa to hide and store weapons, stressing its understanding that “Israel is seeking to get rid of that,” and that it has “the right to demand that Hamas fighters in hospitals surrender.”

The White House explained that their intelligence information yesterday, Tuesday, regarding the presence of Hamas around the hospitals had nothing to do with the timing of the military operation in the medical complex.

US President Joe Biden had earlier called on Israel to “protect” Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, telling reporters at the White House, when asked whether he had expressed his concern to Israel regarding this matter, “The hospital must be protected.”

The occupation forces stormed the Al-Shifa Medical Complex at dawn on Wednesday, after days of surrounding it with tanks and cutting off fuel and electricity, which led to the martyrdom of many intensive care patients and premature babies, in addition to its outer courtyards being crowded with the bodies of the martyrs.
