Families of Israeli prisoners are pressuring Netanyahu to conclude a deal

Families of Israeli prisoners in Gaza escalated their pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu's government on Tuesday, by organizing a protest march from Tel Aviv to the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem to demand practical steps to return their children.

Hundreds of people organized a stand in the city of Tel Aviv before setting off on foot for a distance of 63 kilometers, in a march that is planned to arrive next Saturday in front of the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office in West Jerusalem.

The families of the prisoners demanded that Netanyahu's government give them answers about the procedures they are following to return their families, and a deal to release all the hostages, stressing that every day that the detainees remain in Gaza puts their lives in danger.

The Hostage Forum also called on the government to reveal the demands it had placed within the framework of concluding a deal to release all hostages held in Gaza.

The protest march comes in the wake of conflicting information regarding a possible prisoner exchange deal with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) mediated by Qatari-American.

The Hamas movement reported that the Israeli government is delaying concluding a deal to release the prisoners, as Hamas is offering Israel a truce for several days, the entry of fuel and food into Gaza, and the release of prisoners from Israeli prisons in exchange for the release of a number of Israeli prisoners, including those with foreign nationalities.

While the Israeli government says that increased military pressure in Gaza will help with the return of prisoners, a number of Israeli detainees were killed as a result of the bombing of Gaza, which raises the fears of the families of the prisoners for the lives of their loved ones.
