Palestinian organizations file an appeal to the International Criminal Court regarding Israeli war crimes

A French lawyer announced Thursday that he had sent a letter on behalf of three Palestinian non-governmental organizations to the International Criminal Court regarding war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli occupation army in its ongoing aggression against Gaza.

The letter sent yesterday evening, Wednesday, to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court stated that the facts presented by Al-Haq, Al-Mezan Center, and the Palestinian Center for Human Rights are “genocidal intent, incitement to genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.”

Lawyer Emmanuel Daoud requested that arrest warrants be issued against “those most prominently responsible for these crimes, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog.”

He said that the organizations want “Israeli officials who wage war with complete impunity, where war crimes and crimes against humanity are committed every day, to understand that they must personally bear responsibility for their actions before international justice.”

He added, “Since the international community is unable to impose a ceasefire on Israel, international criminal justice must assume its responsibilities, as it has the necessary means to do so.”

In their statement, the three organizations stressed that the operations carried out by the occupation forces were very destructive and fatal to the Palestinian civilian population in Gaza, who were forced to flee and were deliberately starved.

It also condemned the use of toxic gases and the destruction of many homes and non-military buildings.

Court Prosecutor Karim Khan said his mandate would apply to alleged crimes committed during the current war. But his teams were unable to enter Gaza, nor to Israel, which is not a member of the International Criminal Court.

As for the European Children's Rights Organization, Eurochild, it called on the European Union to stand against Israeli war crimes in the Gaza Strip, especially against children.

The organization's communications director, David Rambaldi, said that the European Union must support civilians equally, regardless of their religion, nationality, or place of residence.

He said that doing otherwise would demonstrate unacceptable double standards in the EU's response to humanitarian crises, and would ultimately undermine its credibility in various social, democratic and international aspects.
