Nassar Taqatqa.. The captive's body is awaiting his return home

Bethlehem - "Jerusalem" dot com - Naguib Farrag - 28 days was the interval between the young Nassar Taqatqa catching his breath quietly and growing up in a quiet life, and becoming a lifeless corpse.

With these words, Hajja Yusra Taqatqa, the mother of the young Nassar, summed up her condition, nearly 3 years after his arrest and martyrdom in the cells, and until this moment, his body remained with these occupation forces.

The martyr’s mother says from her modest home in the town of Beit Fajjar, south of Bethlehem, that a large Israeli military force stormed the family’s house at dawn on the nineteenth of June 2019, to arrest Nassar, which was the first arrest in his life, and they did not have any accurate information about his whereabouts. And his status, as they were told once that he was in the Moscow Compound investigation, and once in Nitzan isolation, and another time in Al-Jalama, and at that time the lawyer was not able to visit him, without any news about him.

The mother added, in an interview with Al-Quds.com, two days before his martyrdom, the soldiers stormed his empty apartment, which he had prepared to have a family in, while it was far from the family home. Only after we informed the neighbors of what happened, and we were shocked by the scene due to the extent of the destruction caused by the storming, which appeared as if it was only part of a revenge operation.

Two days after the raid - the seventeenth of July 2019 - we received the news of the martyrdom, but not in an official way. A number of family and relatives came who had heard about the news of the martyrdom in the various media and hesitated to inform me of the news, which was leaked slowly and with great caution, until it spread without knowing any reasons. This is clear, and amid conflicting accounts as to whether he contracted pneumonia or was subjected to torture.

The grieving mother wonders: "What inflammation are they talking about when he was not suffering from any disease?! He is a young man in the prime of his life and he was a hard worker in his work with a stone saw and was regular and was preparing to hold his engagement in preparation for his marriage, so he was arrested and then assassinated and tortured in this way. He was killed unjustly and aggressively in the occupation cells.

The mother indicates that the family has not yet received any official reports about the cause of death and the details of what happened, noting that what increases her pain is the continued detention of his body for all these years.

She says, "I want my son to go back to bury him next to his father and be relieved of all this fatigue and anxiety. We do not know where he is now, is he in a refrigerator for the dead or in the tombs of numbers, and why do they deal with us in this vengeful way... They do not punish the body because Nassar has They took life from him.. They are punishing me, because this relationalism is an aggressive mentality that refuses to return his body to us so that we can bury him and honor him in his death.”

Yusra Taqatqa appealed to all parties and officials to intervene in order to return her son Nassar to her, before she lost her life due to diseases that she suffered, such as pressure, diabetes, arteries, joints, and others.

For her part, her 24-year-old daughter Suha, who came to visit her mother to take care of her, said that she did not want to leave her mother alone, especially since the house became empty after Nassar's death, and her three other children live in their own homes.

Suha says: "My mother is like a mother and a father together after my father died in 2006, and I endured difficult circumstances in order to raise us, and I worked in sewing and trade, as my father's stage of cancer and standing by him in hospitals for many years was not easy, and then his death, so I faced tasks." It was huge until she was able to overcome it, and she could hardly catch her breath until we were shocked by Nassar's martyrdom."

She added: "Today, she almost does not leave the house, and she is waiting for the body without a horizon. Even when she got married a year after Nassar's martyrdom, she did not attend my wedding, and she did not attend my brother's wedding either. ".

She wondered: "We do not know why his body was seized after he was tortured and killed? And there are those who say that handing over the body is linked to any exchange deal with Hamas, even though my brother was not affiliated with Hamas. They want to punish us even after his martyrdom."

According to statistics published by the Palestinian Ministry of Information last April, it showed that the Israeli occupation authorities are still holding the bodies of 105 martyrs in refrigerators, in addition to 256 martyrs in number graves, including 9 children, 3 martyrs, and 8 prisoners who spent different periods in the occupation prisons.

The African Development Bank expects Tunisia's GDP to grow by 2.5% this year

TUNIS - (Xinhua) - The African Development Bank expected on Wednesday that Tunisia's gross domestic product (GDP) will grow 2.5 percent this year and 3.2 percent next year, due to the boom in the country's tourism and industry sectors.

According to a report by the African Development Bank issued today under the title “Economic Outlook in North Africa for the year 2022: the return of growth in the context of rising energy and food prices,” and the official Tunisian News Agency quoted excerpts from it this evening, “The recovery of economic activity in Tunisia is not strong enough to restore Jobs lost since the beginning of the Corona pandemic.

However, he added, "The recovery recorded in Tunisia in 2021 was stimulated by the manufacturing industry and services," noting that "the shock associated with the global epidemic in 2020 caused a significant recession in Tunisia with a decline in GDP by 8.7%."

He pointed out that the year 2021 was characterized by a significant recovery in Tunisia, with a GDP growth of 3.4%, as this recovery led to an increase in exports, in addition to an improvement in the performance of the industry and services sectors.

He attributed this recovery to an increase in private sector investment by 24.5%, after a contraction of 26.8% in 2020.

It is noteworthy that the National Institute of Statistics (a government institution), had indicated in statistical data published yesterday (Tuesday) that the Tunisian economy achieved a growth of 2.9% in the third quarter of this year, compared to the same period in 2021.

The Tunisian Institute of Statistics attributed this growth to the high rate of value-added growth in the services sector, which amounted to 4.3% on an annual basis, and to a lesser extent, to a lesser extent, the decline in the construction sector.

In this regard, he stressed that in light of the difficult global economic situation and the unprecedented inflationary pressures, economic activity continues to remedy the recession that followed the health crisis of 2020.

Hebron - "Jerusalem" dot com - Today, Saturday, the Prisoner's Club said that the initial version of the circumstances of the death of the captive, Saadia Farajallah, who was born in 1958, from the town of Ithna / Hebron, is that she lost consciousness after she finished her ablution, as the female prisoners carried her immediately. She was taken to the clinic of "Damon" prison, where she was martyred.

And the Prisoner’s Club stated in a statement, that a court session was held for the eldest female prisoner, last Tuesday, and she was in a wheelchair. In the session, the Occupation Prosecution requested a five-year sentence and 15,000 shekels in compensation, but the verdict was not final.

Leaders of the Asia-Pacific Forum countries "condemn the war in Ukraine"

Bangkok - (AFP) - Leaders of the Asia-Pacific Forum (APEC) said in their closing statement Saturday that "most" of them condemn the war, adding their voice to international pressure on Russia after its invasion of Ukraine.

After a day and a half of talks in Bangkok, the 21 members of the forum agreed on a joint statement criticizing the conflict and the global economic turmoil caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"Most members strongly condemn the war in Ukraine and stress that it causes enormous human suffering and exacerbates existing weaknesses in the global economy," said the leaders of the forum's 21 member states, including Russia and China.

The text was approved by all countries, including Russia and China, which refrained from condemning the invasion of Ukraine.

The statement said that "there were other points of view and different assessments of the situation and the sanctions," reiterating, literally, a position issued at the conclusion of the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, a few days ago.

In their statement, APEC countries expressed regret over the impact of the Ukrainian conflict on economic growth, inflation, supply chains, energy and food security.

The United States and its allies took advantage of the G-20 summit to expand the alliance against the Russian invasion.

Faced with difficulties on the ground in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin refused to attend the G-20 and APEC summits and sent his foreign minister to Bali and his deputy prime minister to Bangkok.

G7 pledge to support Ukraine "as long as necessary"

Elmau Palace (Germany) - (AFP) - The Group of Seven pledged continued support to Ukraine in the face of the Russian attack, in a statement issued by its meeting at Elmau Palace in Germany on Monday.

"We will continue to provide financial, humanitarian, military and diplomatic support to Ukraine and stand by it as long as necessary," the group said in a statement.

One of the main issues of the G7 summit, which runs until Tuesday, is to reaffirm Western unity and increase pressure on Russia as the war escalates in Ukraine and drives up energy and food prices around the world.

Also, the G7 asked Russia to allow grain shipments out of Ukraine to avoid exacerbating the global food crisis.

"We urgently call on Russia to stop its attacks on agricultural facilities and transport unconditionally and to allow the passage of grain shipments from Ukraine's ports on the Black Sea," she said.

The leaders also expressed their "deep concern" after Russia announced that it would send nuclear-capable missiles to Belarus, and demanded the "immediate" return of the Ukrainians who were "forcibly" transferred to Russia.

The heads of state and government gathered at Elmau Palace in the Bavarian Alps on Monday morning spoke via video link with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who urged them to "make every effort" to end the war in his country before the end of the year, according to sources inside the summit.

During his speech, the Ukrainian president spoke of the "severe winter" in Ukraine, "where the fighting gets harder."

The same sources indicated that Zelensky "also insisted on the need to tighten sanctions against Russia," noting the importance of "not easing pressure, and continuing to impose intensive sanctions on Russia."

Also, the Ukrainian president asked to increase pressure on Russia "by reducing the price of oil" that Moscow exports.

"For us, the firm position of the G7 on sanctions is important. They must be strengthened by reducing the price of oil exported by the aggressor," he wrote on Telegram.

For his part, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz wrote on Twitter, "As the G7, we stand united by Ukraine and will continue to support it. Therefore, we have to take difficult but necessary measures," offering his thanks to Zelensky for his participation in the summit via video. "We will continue to increase pressure on Putin. This war must end," he added.

The French presidency, for its part, indicated on Monday that Zelensky had told the leaders of the Group of Seven that the time had not yet come to start negotiations with Russia, as Kiev was still seeking to strengthen its position.

France also called on oil-producing countries to increase their production "exceptionally" in order to limit the rise in prices due to the war in Ukraine.

And the French presidency announced on the sidelines of the Group of Seven summit, "We need the producing countries to produce more oil in an exceptional way," calling also for "diversifying sources of supply," including Iran and Venezuela.

North African countries towards exploiting the sun to remedy the energy deficit

Tunisia - (AFP) - The sun's rays are reflected on dozens of solar panels scattered in a lake in Tunisia, seeking, like other Maghreb countries, to remedy their delay in exploiting this natural source of energy that is available almost throughout the year.

Despite bureaucratic obstacles at the administrative level, many countries have made significant strides in the production of solar energy, against the background of the rise in fuel prices as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and the growing awareness of the importance of returning to and exploiting natural resources, according to experts.

"The enormous pressure on natural gas, especially in Europe, has changed the investment equations in this field," Michael Tanchum, a researcher at the Middle East Institute in Washington, told AFP.

On the other hand, "Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco have huge resources of solar and wind energy," according to Tanchoum, a specialist in trade, energy and geopolitical affairs in the North African region.

The director of the "Keer" company, Omar Al-Bey, hopes that the model of the floating solar power plant in the lake located in the Tunisian capital, which produces 200 kilowatts, and which is the first of its kind in the North African region, will be a catalyst for launching other similar projects in the region.

Al-Bey asserts that Tunisia, which has limited resources, "has no other choice but to bet on renewable energy sources."

Floating power stations have the natural cooling of the panels, which makes them more efficient, in addition to opening the way for land exploitation "for other uses, such as agriculture or housing construction," according to Albay.

The climate of the countries of the region is moderate to hot, while the hours of sunshine are estimated at thousands over the entire year, which enhances the possibility of the region becoming a giant for the production of alternative solar energy and be able to meet its own needs and even export to Europe.

Tanchum attributes the delay in exploiting this resource to "political paralysis" caused by the absence of political stability with the succession of about ten governments in the country during the last decade.

In addition, Tunisia is burdened with debt in the framework of a crisis that is worsening day by day against the backdrop of the repercussions of the Covid-19 epidemic and the war in Ukraine, which led to an increase in its import bill of state-subsidized foodstuffs and energy.

Projects often face legal obstacles and complex administrative procedures due to bureaucracy, as Ali Al-Kanzari, head of the National Trade Union Chamber for the Installation and Maintenance of Photovoltaic Equipment, confirms.

For example, panels that are imported from outside the country "sometimes break down for a month or a month and a half at customs. We need more flexible laws and the whole process needs to be accelerated," according to Al-Kanzari.

The Bey, in turn, refers to a "disagreement" with unions in the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company who oppose any attempt to privatize the company.

The most prominent example of this is the power station project, which was built in the desert near Tataouine, and benefited from it only in October, two years after its construction, to produce 10 megawatts and supply 10,000 families with electricity.

However, there is still some hope, according to Albay, who confirms, "Today we have overcome all these problems."

The field was opened today by the authorities in the region to make up for the missed delays, according to the expert, who believes that "Morocco is the only leading country" in this field compared to Algeria and Tunisia.

Since 2009, the Kingdom has taken significant investment steps in the field of renewable energy and set a goal for clean energy to constitute 52% of its total types of energy by 2030. Currently, one-fifth of electricity production comes from environmentally friendly energy sources.

And the Moroccan Ministry of Energy confirms that it is "reaping the fruits of its vision with 111 projects that have been completed or are in the process of development in the field of renewable energies."

One of the main programs that have been implemented in the Kingdom is the "X-Link" project, with a generation capacity of more than 10 gigawatts, which depends on the sun and wind. The project exports energy to Britain through offshore cables extending over 3,800 km. It aims to provide seven million households by 2030.

Tunisia launched a more modest but similar project. And in October, it submitted a request for European aid to lay a 200-kilometre cable linking it to Italy, a project worth 800 million euros, which it hopes will be operational by 2027.

If this project could be completed with a production capacity of between 4 and 5 gigawatts in southern Tunisia, "the country would be able to sell electricity to Europe and collect significant revenues from that" and avoid delays, according to Al-Kanzari's estimate.

As for neighboring Algeria, which is fully aware that its gas resources will one day run out, it has also set itself an ambitious goal to produce 15,000 megawatts of solar energy by 2035. The first part of a huge project with a capacity of 1 gigawatt is scheduled to start operating at the end of 2023 or early 2024.

However, Algeria currently produces only limited quantities that do not exceed 3% of electricity from solar energy.

Intisar Fakir, head of the North Africa program at the Middle East Institute, said that despite the facilitations through the enactment of legislation, "there are still difficulties in front of foreign investment, including the Algerian bureaucracy."

"Illegal" use of spyware in at least four European Union countries

BRUSSELS (AFP) - Spyware has been used "illegally" in at least four European Union countries - Poland, Hungary, Greece and Spain, according to an interim report issued by the European Parliament on Tuesday, calling for a "stop using" the technology.

"The abusive use of spyware in member states of the European Union constitutes a serious threat to democracy in the entire continent," Dutch parliamentarian Sophie Entveld (Renewal of Europe) said during a press conference.

"In a democracy, putting people under surveillance should be the exception... It should not be used for political or partisan purposes," she added.

She pointed out that in many cases, the governments of Member States refused to share official information with the European Parliament's Investigative Committee, which had to rely on other sources, especially journalistic investigations, in its work.

"In Poland and Hungary, we see the Pegasus spyware as an essential part of a system designed to control and even suppress citizens who criticize the government, members of the opposition, journalists and whistleblowers," she said.

In Greece, where the Parliamentary Committee called on the government on Friday to "conduct an urgent and thorough investigation" into the wiretapping scandal through the Predator program, "we see evidence (...) of systematic and widespread use within the framework of a clear political strategy."

In Spain, there are "strong indications that political figures and others unrelated to a clear and imminent threat to national security have been spied on," she said.

She added that the parliamentary commission of inquiry should focus more on the case of Cyprus, citing "indications" that these technologies were being used to monitor citizens, saying that the country was "a platform for exporting spyware".

And Sophie Entfeld stressed, "We must realize that all member states have spyware programs even if they do not admit it," and suggested in her report to "stop the sale, possession, transfer and use" of these technologies.

It said that the ban could be lifted "depending on the country" if four conditions related to monitoring the use of these programs are met, and also called for regulation and a common definition of the concept of "national security".

This report is supposed to be discussed and amended within the European Parliament's commission of inquiry by the various political groups, and its final version must be submitted for a vote in the European Parliament in March 2023 or in June.

Palestinian factions condemn the Israeli aggression on Syria

Gaza - "Jerusalem" dot com - Today, Sunday, Palestinian factions strongly condemned the Israeli aggression against Syria and its targeting of residential neighborhoods in the capital, Damascus, which led to a number of casualties, including one martyr or one wounded.

In a statement, the " Hamas " movement stressed the importance of confronting the brutal fascist occupation, by uniting ranks and uniting Arab and Islamic efforts.

And she said, "The occupation, with its presence on the land of Palestine, still constitutes a threat to our nation and to security and peace throughout the region. It is an absolute evil that can only be deterred by force and resistance until its demise from our land and our sanctities."

For its part, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine confirmed that this blatant aggression comes at a time when Syria has not recovered from the effects of the devastating earthquake that struck it and left thousands of victims, to confirm once again the aggressiveness and fascism of this racist entity.

The People's Assembly expressed its solidarity and full support for the Syrian people and their army in the continuous efforts to cleanse Syria of the remnants of "terrorism" supported by the Israeli entity.

In turn, the Islamic Jihad movement said: "This aggression clearly proves the extent of the Zionists' hatred and fascism, and their continuous efforts to target Syria and deepen the tragedy of the brotherly Syrian people who are healing their wounds after the devastating earthquake."

It affirmed its standing with Syria in the face of these conspiracies led by the Israeli entity, which target its sovereignty, security, stability and unity.

In their closing summit statement... the G20 countries in Indonesia overwhelmingly condemn the war in Ukraine

Bali - (AFP) - The majority of the G20 countries meeting in Indonesia "firmly condemned the war in Ukraine," according to the final statement issued by the summit on Wednesday, which considered that this conflict "undermines the global economy." The twenty largest global economies, including Russia, also agreed in the joint statement that "the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons is not permitted."

The G20 said in the closing statement of its summit held on the island of Bali, Indonesia, on Wednesday, that the "majority" of its member states "firmly condemns the war in Ukraine," considering that this conflict "undermines the global economy."

The twenty largest economies in the world, including Russia, also confirmed in the joint statement that "the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons is not permitted."

Following a series of preparatory ministerial meetings for the G20 summit, which failed to reach consensus due to the deep divisions between Westerners, Russia and the countries of the south over the war in Ukraine, host country Indonesia intensified diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement during the summit.

In the context, Indonesian President Joko Widodo said: "Today we succeeded in adopting and ratifying the G20 Leaders' Declaration," noting that it is the first agreement on a joint text reached by the group since February. Adding: "I express my gratitude to all those who participated and showed flexibility" to reach this joint text.

Regarding the specific aspects of the war, the text mentioned the divergent positions of the states which made it possible to obtain the signature of Russia.

Indonesia, which hosted the G20 summit, had hoped in early 2022 to focus in its presidency on concerted efforts to recover the global economy from the Corona virus pandemic. However, the Russian invasion of Ukraine caused turmoil and led to several crises, especially in food and energy, and to widening divisions between countries.

The danger of a new Nakba and ethnic cleansing still exists

Written by: Noha Naeem Al-Tobasi

After every wave of incitement launched by successive Israeli governments, and their tools of extremist groups, against the Palestinian people, the settlers rampage against our people, villages, cities, lands, and properties, against defenseless citizens, either by killing and setting fire to homes, shops, vehicles, and agricultural lands, or by destroying shops and stealing crops And the poisoning of livestock and wells with the protection and full complicity of the occupation army.

The painful scenes of the fires and the attacks on the town of Hawara and the villages south of Nablus remind us of a recent incident of the brutal attack by settler gangs on the Dawabsha family in the neighboring village of Duma, in 2015 and the burning of their house while they were sleeping. At that time, only the child Ahmed, who lost his whole family.

In 2014, the Knesset member, then the Minister of Interior, and then the Minister of Justice, Ayelet Shaked, adopted the incitement launched by the racist Ori Elitzur to kill Palestinian children, describing them as “little snakes.” As a result, settler gangs kidnapped the child, Muhammad Abu Khdeir from Shuafat, and tortured and abused him before burning him. .

In February 1994, following claims about ethnic cleansing in Hebron, and attempts to Judaize the city, the Ibrahimi Mosque massacre was carried out by extremist settler Baruch Goldstein, a descendant of the racist Kach party, from which the current minister, Itamar Ben Jvir, also emerged. As a result, the Israeli government punished the victims instead. Punishing criminals, it began from that time imposing a comprehensive closure on the occupied lands in the West Bank and Gaza, and preventing entry to Jerusalem, and then implemented its premeditated plan by dividing the Ibrahimi Mosque temporally and spatially, including dividing the sanctuary into a synagogue and a mosque, which is the plan that extremist extremists aspire to apply to Al-Aqsa Mosque. .

The policy of bloody incitement against the Palestinian people and their land did not stop at any stage, with the protection and cover of the Israeli occupation army and its logistical and armament support. In 2022, 1,187 attacks were monitored and documented with the participation of the occupation army, and since the beginning of the current year 2023, more than 130 attacks have now been recorded.

Recently, the incitement to carry out ethnic cleansing and forcible deportation of the Palestinian people has reached its climax, at the invitation of Minister Bin Juffair, to authorize thousands of settler gangs to bear arms. This call to arm settler militias reminds the world of what was previously committed by the Zionist Haganah, Lehi and Watzel gangs, which were formed and armed by the Zionist movement and the British Mandate, to carry out ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people, and history does not forget the most heinous massacres, massacres, war crimes and crimes against humanity, which It was committed at that time during the period between 1936-1948.

More than seventy-five massacres were committed by the armed Haganah gangs, during which houses were blown up on the heads of their owners, and people were directly targeted at that time, such as the massacres of Deir Yassin and Qalunya west of Jerusalem, the massacre of the village of Nasser al-Din near Tiberias, the massacre of the village of al-Husayniyya, the massacre of al-Tantura and the massacre of Haifa, Ain al-Zaytoun near Safed, the Abu Shusha massacre near Ramleh, the city of Lod, and the town of al-Dawayima, west of Hebron. This was on the eve of the announcement of the establishment of the State of Israel. On the ruins of depopulated villages, over the corpses of their owners, and at the expense of the right of the original owners of the land to self-determination.

As a result of those massacres, more than 800,000 Palestinians were displaced and uprooted from their land and displaced during the Nakba. The occupation plan is to settle, annex and seize the geography, empty the land of its inhabitants and expel them, and completely transform it into a "Jewish" state. It began to crystallize in the thoughts and plans of the Zionists since the first conference of the Zionist movement in 1897 in the Swiss city of Basel, and was promoted by the leaders of the Zionist movement. The most important of his recommendations was the settlement of the entire land of Palestine. And when the Zionist movement was able to control areas of the Palestinian lands with the support of the British Mandate, it began to implement plans for displacement early, starting from the lands of Wadi al-Hawrath and Hula. , writing off the national identity of the Palestinian people, and widespread systematic killing and extermination. The expulsion and displacement of the Palestinian people from their land by force, as the Israelis seize 85% of the total area of historic Palestine (27,000 km2).

The Israeli government's extremist programs are integrated with settler gangs to complete the Zionist movement's plans and settlement projects, at the expense of the Palestinian people's blood and rights, at any cost. Contrary to a number of recent outposts and settlement projects that were approved recently.

What is strange is this Arab and international silence regarding these crimes against the Palestinian people, their sanctities, and their land. And if the countries of the world and their leaders were in 2005, at the World Summit Conference, which was described as “the largest gathering of world leaders in history,” and was attended by 190 countries, and declared the commitment of states to protect populations from genocide, war crimes and ethnic cleansing, and the responsibility of the international community to protect When countries are unable to protect themselves.

The international community must respect the principles of international law, international humanitarian law, and its international and legal obligations to provide protection for the Palestinian people, hold Israel accountable for all its crimes, and refer it to the International Criminal Court.

In the face of this silence, we do not have anything better than solidarity and synergy in the face of the Israeli occupation and its settlers, and resolving internal disputes and transcending them, for the sake of the people and loyalty to its martyrs and prisoners, and confronting this isolation by the Israeli occupation and its settlers to protect our people from a new catastrophe.

Biden urges countries around the world to "do more" in the climate struggle at COP27

Sharm El-Sheikh - (AFP) - US President Joe Biden urged the countries of the world to make more efforts to avoid the catastrophe of climate warming, stressing that his country is on the "right track" to fulfill its pledges to reduce carbon emissions.

"The climate crisis is related to human security, economic security, national security, and life on the planet," Biden said in a speech to the annual United Nations Climate Conference (COP 27) in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on the Red Sea.

He stressed that the United States is on the "right track" to achieve its pledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from 50 to 52 percent below 2005 levels by 2030.

In his speech, the US President indicated that the United States approved an investment plan worth $369 billion to make the US economy more environmentally friendly, considering that it serves as an example for other countries.

While activists praised the funds allocated by the United States in the field of renewable energy, Washington was criticized for failing to implement its pledges to financially assist developing countries in their energy transition and to strengthen their resistance to natural disasters exacerbated by climate warming.

Biden stressed, "To change the emissions curve once and for all, all countries must do more. During this gathering, we must renew and raise our climate ambitions," stressing that the United States is doing what it has to do in this struggle to limit climate warming.

Biden added, "The United States has moved, and everyone must move. This is the duty and responsibility of world leaders. Countries that are able to help must support developing countries so that they can take decisive decisions on the climate level, from facilitating the energy transition in them and promoting the path of prosperity in line with our climate imperatives."

Activists in the audience interrupted his 22-minute speech with shouts and tried to hold up a banner protesting fossil fuels.

They were taken out of the hall.

New research has shown that it will be extremely difficult to achieve the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels, which would require cutting emissions by nearly half by 2030.

The study, the results of which were published Friday in the journal Earth System Science Data, concluded that carbon dioxide emissions are on the way to rise by 1% in 2022, reaching a record level.

Biden was absent from the summit of state and government leaders at the conference at the beginning of the week, due to his preoccupation with the US elections, which raised questions about the repercussions of their possible results on US climate policy.

Before the speech, Biden met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the sidelines of COP27, where he raised the issue of human rights in the country, while the health of the most prominent prisoner of conscience in the country, Alaa Abdel-Fattah, is concerned after he began a hunger strike seven months ago.

The lightning visit to Egypt marks the beginning of a week-long tour during which Biden will participate in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Cambodia over the weekend, before moving to Indonesia to attend the G20 summit.

In his speech, Biden touched on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, stressing that it "highlighted the urgent need to stop the world's dependence on fossil fuels."

Biden said the dispute gave new impetus to replacing oil and gas with renewable energy sources. Many Western European countries were dependent on Russian gas before the invasion.

However, the US president did not address in his speech an issue dominating the negotiations at the Sharm el-Sheikh conference, namely calls for the United States and other rich polluting countries to pay compensation to developing countries for damages caused by natural disasters.

Mohamed Adow, founder of the think tank "Power Shift Africa," said the United States is a "historical pollutant," stressing that it stands as an obstacle to establishing a "loss and damage" mechanism.

Washington resisted this idea in the past, but agreed to discuss it during the current climate conference.

German climate envoy Jennifer Morgan said Biden's presence at COP27 was an "excellent gesture".

"I think this reassures countries and peoples that the United States is taking this issue very seriously and at the highest levels, and we need that," she told reporters.

US Special Envoy for Climate John Kerry offered a partnership between the private and public sectors aimed at supporting the transition to renewable energy sources in developing countries based on a system of carbon credits, but activists criticized this program.

On Friday, the White House announced plans to require federal contractors to set targets to cut their emissions in line with the Paris agreement.

The plans also aim to boost efforts to cut methane emissions, a major contributor to global warming, through a program that requires companies to act on leaks detected by "trustworthy" third parties.

Biden pledged to contribute $11.4 billion to an annual mechanism to provide $100 billion from rich countries to developing countries to transition to renewable energy sources and strengthen their resistance to climate change.

However, time is running out for the Democrats to approve this amount in Congress, as it appears that the Republicans will control the House of Representatives as of January in light of the results of the mid-term elections this week.

Istanbul - "Jerusalem" dot com - Today, Tuesday, Minister of National Economy Khaled Asseily called on the private sector in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to invest in Palestine and establish joint investments with their Palestinian counterparts, which contributes to the employment of the Palestinian workforce.

This came during his participation in the opening of the 38th session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) held in Istanbul, Turkey, which was inaugurated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Osaily called on Islamic countries to implement the decisions of previous Islamic summits regarding exempting Palestinian exports and goods from customs duties and taxes when entering the markets of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which will reflect positively on the Palestinian economy. On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with our Palestinian people, Osaily expressed his thanks and appreciation for the positions of The Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the Palestinian issue, including the decision requesting the International Court of Justice to issue an advisory opinion on the legal implications arising from Israel’s violation of the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, in addition to the positions of the countries that contributed to supporting these decisions, affirming their commitment to international law.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He stressed the importance of supporting the trade facilitation initiative to remove Israeli obstacles by encouraging container shipping through the port of Aqaba and efforts to establish a complex for containers and logistic areas, in addition to the importance of holding an investment conference, which provides an opportunity for Islamic countries to see economic developments among them. To those who want to execute another Palestinian leader

By: Gershon Baskin
Whoever wants to execute Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader in Gaza, is calling for more of the same or perhaps worse. Killing Sinwar may seem like the right thing to do to many Israelis who see him as responsible for killing many more Israelis, but if there is one thing we should definitely know beyond a shadow of a doubt, it is that executing him will lead to more Israelis being killed. When more Israelis are killed, we can be 100% sure that more Palestinians will be killed. We've been there and done that many times before.
The public knows little about Yahya Al-Sinwar or Abu Ibrahim as he is known in Palestine. Sinwar was born in Khan Yunis in 1964. His family hails from what is now Ashkelon. He studied at a United Nations refugee school and continued his studies to complete a bachelor's degree in Arabic language studies from the Islamic University of Gaza. He was arrested in 1988 for killing four Palestinians suspected of collaborating with Israel and sentenced to four life sentences. He was in prison for 22 years before he was released in the Shalit deal. In 2006, Sinwar played a key role in drafting and supporting the National Reconciliation Document for prisoners by Palestinian political detainees in Israeli prisons (representing Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine). The "Prisoners' Document" is a revolutionary document because Hamas came out in it mainly to support the two-state solution, and this is what it said: "The Palestinian people in the homeland and diaspora seek to liberate their land and to obtain their right to freedom, return, independence, and exercise their right to self-determination, including the right to establish their own state." The independent city with its capital, Al-Quds Al-Sharif, on all the lands occupied in 1967, securing the right of return for refugees and liberating all prisoners and detainees based on the historical right of our people on the land of our fathers and grandfathers and on the basis of the United Nations Charter, international law and international legitimacy.
Moreover, Hamas agreed at that time to limit the resistance to the areas beyond the Green Line and not to Israel itself: "The right of the Palestinian people to resist and adhere to the choice of resistance by various means and the concentration of resistance in the region." The territories occupied in 1967, in addition to political work, negotiations, diplomatic work, the continuation of the popular and mass resistance against the occupation in its various forms and policies, and ensuring the existence of broad participation by all sectors and the masses in the popular resistance.
During the negotiations for the Shalit deal, Sinwar's name was not contested by the Israeli security authorities who were responsible for approving each name on the list. Sinwar's hands were not "stained" with "Jewish blood" because he killed Palestinians. Moreover, Israel understood that Sinwar's support for the deal was important for Hamas to agree to it because Sinwar was seen as one of the most important Hamas leaders in prison. Sinwar had to ensure the support of all Hamas prisoners, including those who were not on the list.
There have been many arguments within the Israeli security establishment over the years as to whether Sinwar was a pragmatist or an ideologue and extremist. Most of the time, the majority of experts conclude that he is a pragmatist. This is what the Egyptian and Qatari intelligence interlocutors told Israel as well. Sinwar led the resistance within Hamas to realign with Iran rather than seek the support of more moderate Sunni Arab states. When cease-fire agreements were concluded through Egyptian mediation, Sinwar generally demonstrated a willingness and ability to abide by the agreements. Egyptian intelligence officers who meet with Sinwar regularly have found him pragmatic about abiding by cease-fire agreements, rebuilding Gaza, and making sure that Hamas does not conduct any activity in the Sinai, under Egyptian sovereignty.
Sinwar has grown beyond the role of Hamas leader in Gaza. Sinwar seems to see himself today as a Palestinian national leader and his fears go beyond easing the blockade on Gaza. Sinwar realized that the focal point for unifying Palestinian public opinion was Al-Aqsa. He knows that by focusing on the deteriorating status quo at Al-Aqsa, which has allowed increasing numbers of right-wing religious Jews to enter the Al-Aqsa compound, he has been able to exploit the rallying call for all Palestinians and Muslims under the banner first used by Hezbollah. Historic Mufti Haj Amin Al-Hussein "Al-Aqsa is in danger". Sinwar does not see his role in merely easing the siege on Gaza and improving the economic situation there. Sinwar himself cares about East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and even the Palestinian citizens of Israel. For the past seven years, he has been almost completely consistent in the negotiations for the return of the bodies of Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul and the presumed living Israelis - Abra Mengistu and Hisham El-Sayed. Israel attempted to "broaden the pie" of issues in the prisoner negotiations. Including easing the blockade, electricity, water, movement of Gazans out of Gaza, and more. Sinwar refuses to combine the release of prisoners from all other issues. This makes such negotiations almost impossible due to his demand for religious Palestinian prisoners who have murdered Israelis and Israel's refusal to do so.
I have always advocated the policy of trying to speak directly with Sinwar, not through Egypt or Qatar. One of the main reasons for any discussion about the prisoners, the future of Gaza, or the entire Palestinian issue is due to the deep mistrust between the two sides. This mistrust is not wrong - there are many reasons why both sides may not trust the other. Creating even the beginning of trust between the two sides is essential and is the most realistic thing to do. In May 2017, Hamas amended its charter, which was heavily "anti-Semitic" and clearly stated in the movement's goals to destroy the entire State of Israel. The amended charter apparently separated Hamas from the Muslim Brotherhood - which is Egypt's demand, and also stated that they would accept a Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders. They said they would not recognize Israel even with a state in the West Bank and Gaza, but the amended charter It was a big step in the right direction. It is believed that Sinwar was a key figure in drafting the charter and lobbying for its acceptance within the ranks of Hamas. Sinwar is not the only player in Hamas' decision-making process. He is powerful but also has more extreme powerful people in his decision-making circle. I think there is a possibility to engage directly with Sinwar. It will not be done through public diplomacy, although some positive statements by some Israelis, in the political and security arenas would be helpful. From the point of view of Israel's interests, in the short and medium term, dealing with Sinwar is a wiser political strategic choice than killing him. More targeted killings, another war with the Palestinians, closures and blockades will not change the basic harmful parameters of this conflict. Reaching out, talking, building trust, and negotiating is probably the only way out of this conflict. Israel will not be able to get rid of Hamas by force. In fact, the harder Israel hits Hamas, the stronger it becomes. Isn't it time to try something new?

The painful memory of the Nakba

The Kurds are an ethnic minority distributed in four countries in the range of Iran and Turkey

Beirut - (AFP) - The Kurds are a minority whose number ranges between 25 and 35 million. They are distributed mainly in four countries: Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria.

Turkey is currently targeting Kurdish fighters in their strongholds in northern Iraq and Syria with a series of air strikes and artillery bombardment, accusing Kurdish groups of being responsible for detonating an improvised explosive device on November 13 in Istanbul.

In addition, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened to launch a ground operation in northern Syria.

Iran is also bombing the Iranian Kurdish opposition in northern Iraq, accusing its formations of supporting the demonstrations that have erupted in the Islamic Republic since the death of the Iranian Kurdish young woman, Mahsa Amini, in mid-September.

The Kurds are of Indo-European descent, descended from the Medes of ancient Persia who founded an empire in the seventh century BC.

The majority of the Kurds are Sunnis, and among them are non-Muslim minorities (Christians, Yazidis, and others), and their political formations are mostly secular, and they spread over about half a million square kilometers. Their total number ranges between 25 and 35 million. The largest number of them live in Turkey, where they represent about 20 percent of the population. The Kurds in Iraq make up between 15 and 20 percent of the population, in Syria 15 percent and in Iran about ten percent.

Over the years, the Kurds preserved their dialects, traditions, and clan social pattern to a large extent.

Large groups of Kurds also live in Azerbaijan, Armenia and Lebanon, as well as in Europe, especially in Germany.

The collapse of the Ottoman Empire at the end of World War I paved the way for the establishment of a Kurdish state, according to the Treaty of Sevres in 1920, in eastern Anatolia and in the province of Mosul.

But after the victory of Mustafa Kemal in Turkey, the Allies retracted their decision, and in 1923 the Treaty of Lausanne established the control of Turkey, Iran, Great Britain (in Iraq) and France (in Syria) over the Kurdish population.

In Syria, the Kurdish militia of the People's Protection Units (YPG) has been one of the main forces fighting the Islamic State (ISIS) since 2014, with air support from the US-led international coalition.

In early 2015, Kurdish forces backed by the coalition expelled the extremist group from Kobani, near the Turkish border.

The Syrian Democratic Forces, made up of 25,000 Kurds and 5,000 Arabs, was formed in October 2015 and is controlled by the People's Protection Units (YPG) and receives significant assistance from Washington.

The Syrian Democratic Forces defeated the Islamic State from its stronghold in Raqqa, and then took control of its last stronghold in Syria, in Al-Baghouz, in March 2019.

And in Iraq, Kurdish Peshmerga fighters also took part in the fight against the extremists.

In view of the Kurds' demand for the establishment of a unified Kurdistan, the authorities in their countries of residence consider them a constant threat to their territorial integrity.

- In Syria, the Kurds, who have been subjected to regime oppression for decades, have committed themselves to "neutrality" towards the regime and the opposition with the outbreak of the conflict in 2011.

In 2016, they announced the establishment of a large "federal region" in northern Syria consisting of three regions, which fueled the enmity of the opposition forces and neighboring Turkey towards them.

- In Turkey, the conflict resumed between the Kurdistan Workers' Party (categorized as a "terrorist" organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union) and the central authority in the summer of 2015, which torpedoed the peace negotiations that began in late 2012. The conflict has left more than 40,000 dead since its outbreak in the year 1984.

Ankara launched three major military operations in Syria: in 2016 and early 2018 to drive away Islamic State militants and the People's Protection Units (YPG) from its borders, and then in 2019 against Kurdish forces in the northeast.

- In Iraq, the Kurds were subjected to persecution under the regime of Saddam Hussein before their uprising in 1991, after the defeat of Iraq in Kuwait, and they gained a de facto form of self-rule, which was enshrined in the Iraqi constitution issued in 2005, which established a federal state that includes the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

In 2017, the Kurds voted for secession, contrary to the vision of Baghdad and the international community. In response, the central authority sent its armored vehicles to take control of the disputed areas.

In Iran, following the Islamic Revolution in 1979, the authorities severely suppressed a Kurdish uprising. Since then, the authorities have confronted Kurdish activists who say they use bases in Iraqi Kurdistan to launch attacks in Iran.

Iran accuses Western countries of teaching the protesters to make weapons

Tehran - (AFP) - The Iranian Foreign Minister accused a number of Western countries of spreading violence in Iran by teaching protesters to make weapons and Molotov cocktails.

"In contravention of the UN charter, a small number of Western governments hiding behind peaceful slogans encourage violence and teach (protesters) how to make weapons and Molotov cocktails in Iran through social media and mass media," Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said.

Abdullahian spoke by phone Thursday evening with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, and his positions were published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The minister stressed that the actions of these Western countries "led to the killing of policemen and insecurity in Iran, and also paved the way for the activity of the terrorist organization of the Islamic State."

At least 13 people, including two children, were killed on October 26 at a Shiite shrine in Shiraz, in southern Iran, in an attack claimed by the Islamic State (ISIS).

The attack on Shiraz came as Iran witnessed a wave of protests about two months ago that erupted after the killing of the 22-year-old Iranian Kurdish woman, Mahsa Amini, on September 16, three days after she was arrested by the morality police in Tehran.

The authorities described most of the moves as "riots" perpetrated by Iran's "enemies".

On Friday, the Commander-in-Chief of the Revolutionary Guards warned Iran's enemies that they will not know peace, saying, "We will break your sleep," according to what was reported by the official "IRNA" agency.

Major General Hussein Salami added, "Several days ago, they felt fear and sent messages through different countries asking us not to target them."

He was participating in a ceremony held in the Great Cemetery in Tehran in memory of Hassan Tehrani Moqaddam, nicknamed the "Father of Rockets", who was killed in November 2011 in an explosion at a military base west of the capital.

Salami stressed, "We will not pass unnoticed the crimes committed by the enemies," and added, "We will avenge the blood of the martyrs."

Arab countries confirm that the “OPEC Plus” decision to reduce oil production is “purely economic”

Arab capitals (Xinhua) Arab countries affirmed (Tuesday) that the recent decision of the " OPEC Plus Group " to reduce oil production is a purely technical and economic decision that was taken unanimously by the member states.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, in a statement published on its official account via Twitter, that “the decision taken by the OPEC Plus group came based on pure economic studies in which the balance of supply and demand in the global oil markets was taken into account, in a way that preserves these markets from fluctuations and serves interests of both producers and consumers.

She added, "This decision was unanimously agreed upon by all OPEC Plus member states, in accordance with the prevailing norms in international organizations."

The statement expressed Kuwait's "full and comprehensive" solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding the statements made in the wake of the decision taken by the OPEC Plus group, which "extracted the decision from its pure economic framework."

The statement praised "the pioneering role played by the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its contributions in facing regional and international challenges and its role in addressing them in a way that preserves the common interests of countries, maintains international peace and security, and supports the balance of the oil market and global economic stability."

On October 5, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies, a group known as "OPEC Plus" that includes Russia, announced a significant production cut of two million barrels per day, starting next November, to boost oil prices, which have recently fallen due to recession fears.

The OPEC Plus decision sparked US criticism of Saudi Arabia and accusations of siding with Russia, according to reports, which Riyadh rejected.

Today, Sudan announced its support for the decision of the "OPEC Plus" group to reduce oil production.

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry said, in a press statement, that it "followed the repercussions of the OPEC Plus decision to reduce oil production, and the campaign against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and attempts to hold it accountable for the consequences of the decision."

The statement added, "Sudan, as a member of the group, affirms that the decision to reduce oil production came by consensus and unanimity among all member states."

The statement affirmed Sudan's support for the position expressed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that the decisions of "OPEC Plus" are based on purely economic considerations, and on the facts of supply and demand, in order to achieve stability in energy markets and serve the interests of all dealers in them.

In Jordan, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ambassador Sinan Majali, said in a statement, "The ministry is following with interest the reactions to the OPEC Plus decision to reduce oil production and the tensions that the decision resulted in."

Majali added, "This is a technical issue linked to the stability of oil markets and its requirements, organizing the supply and demand process, and protecting the interests of producers and consumers, and it must be approached on technical grounds, and in its economic context, away from political tensions that do not serve common goals and interests."

Al-Majali stressed, "the need to address this issue through direct and balanced dialogue between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, and within the framework of the spirit of partnership that brings the two countries together, and in a way that reflects the importance of this partnership in efforts to consolidate security and stability in the region and beyond, and the centrality of Saudi Arabia's main role in it, and the importance of the role of the United States." United States of America".

He stressed that "Jordan supports all the steps taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to protect its security, stability and interests."

Today, Tunisia expressed its support for Saudi Arabia's position regarding reducing oil production within the "OPEC Plus" group, starting from next November, and described it as "well-founded".

The Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, in a statement, that the decision to reduce oil production "was taken unanimously by all the countries of the OPEC Plus group, and that the position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on this decision is valid in terms of its purely technical nature."

And she considered that the relevance of this decision is also linked to "the balances of supply and demand imposed by the global market, and the instability that may have repercussions on producing, exporting and consuming countries alike."

Today, Qatar expressed its refusal to politicize the decision of the “OPEC Plus” group related to reducing oil production, stressing that the decision was purely technical and economic and was taken unanimously to achieve a balance between supply and demand and in the interest of members.

Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Energy Company, said today at a press conference in Doha, "As for us, we are no longer members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), but what we know about (OPEC) from our experience as a former member is that their decisions are adopted." on a commercial and technical basis.

Al-Kaabi explained, at the conference held on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Al-Kharsa’a solar power plant in the country, that OPEC’s decisions are based on data they study regarding the balance between supply and demand in the oil market, noting that the organization and all relevant ministers stated that the decision was taken unanimously according to what they saw. It is in the interest of the members.

He went on to say, "As for the politicization of the issue, I believe that such organizations should be separated from the political nature and we do not consider their decisions to be political decisions. In my opinion, it is a purely technical and economic decision based on what the organization deems to be in the interest of its affiliates."

On the other hand, Al-Kaabi stressed during the conference that his country will not transfer shipments of gas already contracted with Asian buyers to Europe this winter, stressing Qatar's commitment to the contracts it signs with any buyer.

In this context, he said, "Qatar is committed to the contracts it signed, and this is the basis for our dealings in the past and present. When we sign with an Asian or European buyer, we are committed to the signed agreement, and therefore we have been trusted by our customers around the world for more than 27 years."

He added that the amount of gas that will go to Europe is that allocated to the European market, which Qatar has committed to not being transferred outside Europe, but it will not transfer any shipments from Asian buyers to Europe.

Human Rights Watch calls for the international mobilization of Ukraine to be repeated in other countries

London - (AFP) - Human Rights Watch, which publishes its annual report Thursday, said the intense international mobilization in defense of human rights in Ukraine since the Russian invasion should be repeated in other countries where these rights are being violated.

In this more than 700-page report, which refers to the condemnation of human rights violations, it documents the "chain of violations" committed in 2022 in the world, from China to Afghanistan, passing through Iran, Ethiopia and Ukraine.

"Amidst the fog of war and the darkness that we saw in this war in Ukraine, there was a bright light: the international response and commitment to international justice," Tirana Hasan, acting executive director at Human Rights Watch, told AFP.

And while the non-governmental organization noted "violations from all sides", the Russian forces are the source of a "large number" of them, especially against the civilian population.

The report indicated that in the occupied Ukrainian regions, "Russian or pro-Russian forces committed what appear to be war crimes, including torture, summary executions, sexual violence, and enforced disappearances."

The report stated that some of the violations were committed by both Ukrainian and Russian forces.

Human Rights Watch welcomed the speed with which the International Criminal Court launched an investigation and with which the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries imposed unprecedented sanctions on Moscow.

"Never in the history of conflict responses have we seen such a coordinated international response," she added. "What we need to do now is ensure that other countries are held accountable to the same level that was seen in Ukraine."

In particular, the organization called on the international community to "continue pressure" to hold accountable those responsible for the violations committed in the Tigray region of Ethiopia following the peace agreement concluded last November, while Russia and China prevent the inclusion of this conflict on the agenda of the UN Security Council.

The same is true in China, where Beijing has not yet had to justify its policy towards the Muslim Uighur minority, despite a report issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, which concluded that some of the actions committed by the regime may amount to crimes against humanity.

The same is true in Iran, where the regime is escalating its repression of demonstrations. Hassan stressed that "we cannot wait for the Iranian people to single-handedly change" the human rights situation in the country.

She explained, "A major change to this powerful regime requires the mobilization of the international community, not only to express solidarity, but also to put effective pressure on the regime."

In its report, the non-governmental organization accused countries of "double standards" in taking action in the face of human rights violations committed in the world.

Human Rights Watch cited, for example, US President Joe Biden, who restored relations with Saudi Arabia in the midst of the energy crisis after pledging to make it a "pariah" state, or even Europe that opens its arms to Ukrainian refugees, but deals in a more stringent manner with refugees from other countries such as the Syrians and Palestinians. Afghans and Somalis.

In San Francisco, a sweet shop serves delicious treats...for dogs

San Francisco - (AFP) - Dog owners in the American city of San Francisco can take their animals, if they are fed up with the food designated for them, to a sweet shop where they eat what is delicious and delicious, with a menu price of $75.

The owner of the "Dogue" sweets shop, Chef Rahmi Masarwa, receives all kinds of dogs that come to enjoy the treats he prepares for them.

This American chef received training in the origins of French cuisine in a famous restaurant in the San Francisco Bay Area, and he recently launched his own shop for dogs, in which he offers these animals a variety of sweets of all kinds, so they are confused about which one to choose.

For the most discerning palate, dogs can choose between the Petit Gateau, made with minced chicken topped with a layer of carefully sculpted confectionery cream, and the Golden Paste, a mini pie that combines organic coconut and turmeric with A thin layer of honey gelatin.

"The visual is very important," Masarwa told AFP. "I've always strived to design dog food in a way that makes me want to eat it myself," he added.

Masarwe set his sights on the idea of opening this new restaurant based on the whims of one of his dogs, an English mastiff. And when the animal refused to eat its own artificial food, the chef, who disliked traditional molds, set out to use his knowledge and skill to prepare small dishes for him with fresh, seasonal ingredients.

The chef specializing in dogs, through his new shop, aspires to be inspired by the traditional French cuisine to which he belongs, and at the same time to be what he prepares as a tribute to the "English Mastiffs" that he keeps with his wife.

During the week, $4.95 candy bars and dogeccinos (about the weight of a cappuccino) covered in cream and mixed with spirulina or charcoal are sold. Dog owners can also recommend to their animals ready-made food lists specially prepared for each of them, according to what you detail.

On Sundays, the shop turns into a restaurant in every sense of the word, with a menu consisting of appetizers, main course, and desserts for $75.

This price did not dissuade Joe Lake, who came with his elegant dog "MJ", which has a hair half dyed in pink.
"It's been a pretty good experience so far," Lake said. He said his dog "loves the food and appreciates the attention she gets" at the restaurant.

But the shop was not only admired, but also subject to criticism. Some of the users of social networks saw it as one of the symptoms of a city that was touched by madness due to the money of the neighboring Silicon Valley, which produced a reality that extends from manifestations of banality and waste to the suffering of homelessness and drug addiction in its streets.

As for Masarweh, he focuses his efforts on making his four-legged customers happy.

He said that dogs do not pretend to be what they are not, and do not show the opposite of what they have, "if they like (food) they eat it with appetite, and if they do not like it, they will not eat it, and nothing can be done about it."
