Number of Palestinian hunger strikers rises to 11

The Palestinian Prisoners Club said that the number of hunger strikers protesting their administrative detention has risen to 11 on Wednesday, after Maher al-Akhras announced an open-ended hunger strike.

52-year-old Al-Akhras from the town of Silat Al-Dhahr, near Jenin, previously launched a hunger strike that lasted for 103 days when he was detained without trial in 2020.

He is married and is the father of six children.
