Bloody escalation in Nablus: Deaths in clashes in Tal village and Netanyahu vows firm response

Tal village and its surrounding areas southwest of Nablus witnessed a bloody field escalation today, Friday, leading to casualties on both sides. Local sources reported that the confrontations resulted in the martyrdom of four Palestinians and the killing of an Israeli settler, amidst a state of severe tension gripping the region.

The spark of events began in the early morning hours when groups of settlers launched an organized attack on the homes of Palestinian citizens on the outskirts of Tal village. Residents confronted this attack, leading to violent clashes that later developed into armed confrontations in several areas.

Field reports indicated that during the clashes, Palestinians managed to seize a weapon belonging to an Israeli security guard near the 'Havat Gilad' settlement, which is built on citizens' land. The seized weapon was used to carry out a shooting operation targeting Israeli forces and settlers in the area, causing direct injuries.

For its part, the Israeli army announced that its forces managed to kill the Palestinian youth who carried out the shooting operation near Tal village. The military statement clarified that forces fired directly at him immediately after locating him, noting the recovery of the weapon that had been seized earlier in the confrontation.

In a swift political reaction, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that he is holding a series of emergency security meetings with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and the Chief of Staff. This move aims to assess the field situation and discuss ways to respond to the operation that occurred in the vicinity of the 'Havat Gilad' settlement.

Netanyahu stressed in his statements that his government would act firmly against those he described as perpetrators and the parties behind them, emphasizing that Israel would not allow the return of armed operations in the West Bank. These statements come at a time when the region is witnessing unprecedented military reinforcements and intensive movements of Israeli vehicles.

On the military front, the Israeli Chief of Staff issued immediate orders to widely reinforce the forces deployed in the Nablus area. The instructions included pursuing all participants in the events of Tal village, while continuing military operations targeting what the army described as the 'infrastructure of militants' in the northern West Bank, specifically in Beit Furik and Tubas.

In a related context, leaders of various fronts in the Israeli army are holding intensive meetings to assess the situation with the participation of commanders of the West Bank Division and the General Security Service 'Shin Bet'. These deliberations aim to develop operational plans to deal with the accelerating security deterioration and prevent the spread of confrontations to other areas.

Settler attacks were not limited to Tal village, as dozens of settlers attacked Palestinian homes in Jit village, east of Qalqilya city. These attacks caused material damage to citizens' property, amidst distress calls issued by residents to repel the settlement encroachment that occurs under the protection of the army.

The Palestinian Red Crescent teams also confirmed that similar attacks targeted Iraq Burin village in the Nablus district, where citizens' homes were subjected to stone-throwing and intimidation. At the same time, occupation forces are imposing a strict military siege on the entrances to the affected villages and towns, hindering movement and the arrival of medical aid.
